Mardi Himal Birdwatching Trek
Up a rhododendron ridge to the foot of Machhapuchhre, with time for every flock in the forest.
9 days, up to 4,500 m, and 88 birds recorded on this route.
Best months: March to May and October to November.
1 / 5
A short, quiet trek up a rhododendron ridge to the foot of Machhapuchhre, with more forest per day than any other trek near Pokhara. Krishna gives the forest camps time for sibias, laughingthrushes, Mrs. Gould's Sunbird and calling pheasants, then climbs to 4,500 m for Snow Pigeons, Lammergeier and the sunrise. A good first Himalayan birding trek.
Birds to look for
None of them is promised: wild birds keep their own plans.
